Free.
Not
costless.
thank you
Punk, Punk::Queue, Hyperman, Fetch, DBIx::Loop, Template::Stencil and the rest of the stack are free software under the Artistic License 2.0, and they will stay that way. Nothing on this site is gated, nothing expires, and there is no paid tier waiting behind a download button.
They are also written and maintained by one person. If any of it saved you an afternoon, this is where you can put something back.
Put something in
Payment is handled entirely by Stripe Checkout - the card details never touch this server, and this site stores no card data, no address and no email address. A donation is not tax-deductible: this is support for a software project, not a charitable gift, and no goods or services are exchanged for it.
What it pays for
-
Time
The largest cost by a distance, and the one that decides whether a bug reported on a Tuesday is fixed that week or that quarter.
-
The smoke testing
This stack is C and XS, and it is tested against old perls, 32-bit IV builds, quadmath, long-double, FreeBSD, Windows and MSVC. Every one of those has caught a real bug; keeping them running costs machines.
-
Hosting
This site, the documentation, and the boxes the benchmarks are measured on - which have to be quiet boxes, or the numbers on the front page would be fiction.
Other ways to help
Money is the least of them, honestly.
- Report a bug with a test case that fails - the most valuable thing anybody sends.
- Write something that uses it and say what got in your way.
- Tell someone Perl has a compiled-at-boot MVC framework with an event-loop server under it. Most people do not know.
